1967年生。1990年神戸大学卒、1996年東京大学博士（学術）。
自律的に生成し変化するルールのダイナミクスに関心を持つ。特に、言語や社会制度の進化についての構成論的研究、およびルールのダイナミクスについて一般的性質の理論化の試みを行っている。
